deciduous trees

All deciduous trees in the UK loose their leaves in autumn. (Decidere means" to fall off" in Latin) This is a natural process which protects the tree against winter storms, insect damage and disease. Do not worry if your tree has no leaves, or is loosing them, it is perfectly healthy and fresh new leaves will emerge next spring. They will be a joy to behold, just as when spring bulbs burst into life. Whilst the tree has no leaves it should be kept outside and just damp until new signs of life are seen. It can be planted out as over leaf or kept in its pot. As the leaves emerge its requirement for water will dramatically increase.
